PRACTICAL BASED COURSE FOR THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO APPLY CHEMICALS AS APRT OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT.

You will be provided with access to our online training prior to attending the face to face practical training and assessment day. This will give you the opportunity to practise the skills you need to pass the assessment.

Depending on the state/territory you work in this may be a requirement for licensing.
In NSW if your previous accreditation is more than 6 months out of date you cannot complete the Update course; you are required to complete the initial course again.

Purpose

These units of competency provide the skills and knowledge required to safely prepare and apply chemicals for the control of pests, weeds and diseases and transport and store chemicals.

The unit applies to individuals who work under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work. They use discretion and judgement in the selection, allocation and use of available resources and for solving problems.

State or territory licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply in some jurisdictions.

Career Pathways

This course may be a statutory requirement in your State of Territory. You will need to check with your local authorities to determine this.

Duration

Duration of this course is 14 hours.

Entry Requirements

You will be required to be a minimum of 18 years old and to complete an LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital) activity prior to commencing the course to ensure you meet the entry requirements of the course and to aid us in providing learning support if needed.

Upon Completion

Upon successful completion you will be provided with a Statement of Attainment with the following Units of Competency:

  • AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
  • AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals

Assessment Requirements

There are 2 sessions. The first session is training which is completed Online (at your own pace). The second session consists of theory and practical training and assessment and is completed at the Face-to-Face training day.

Delivery Mode

Delivery of this course is via blended learning.

  • Online training (at your own pace) prior to the course.
  • classroom-based theory/practical plus outdoor practical training and assessment in a actual work environment at the face to face training day.
    • Session 1 – Online Training: 6 hours
    • Session 2 – Face to Face Theory/Practical Training and Assessment: 8 hours

Materials or Equipment Required

Online Component – you will need access to a computer or tablet with reliable internet and your own individual email address. This section of the course can be completed on a mobile phone but will be easier on a computer or tablet.

Face-to-Face – You will be required to wear long pants and sleeves, covered footwear, provide your own PPE (gloves and protective eye wear), provide your own pen (no pencils allowed) and sunscreen/hat/water if the weather is hot. Learner training is supported at the face to face training day by the provision of quality learning materials and resources.
